Learn to Surf in Canada: Best Tofino Surf Schools

When you mention Tofino BC, many people think about surfing. And they should. Tofino is a renowned surfing community that has produced some extraordinary professional surfers. And while you may not be one of them, you should definitely get out on the water while you’re there. There are numerous surfing shops in Tofino you can choose from. If you want to learn to surf in Canada – and have fun while surfing in a safe environment – these are the best Tofino surf schools.

Tofino Surf School

Owned and operated by a longtime local, Jeffro, Tofino Surf School was the surf school most recommended to me by my local Tofino friends. And they did not steer us wrong. They offer private and small group surf lessons. My husband and kids surfed with them last year and loved it so much, they’re signed up for two more trips this year! (Tofino Surf School teaches kids as young as 10 years old.) Honestly, if the kiddos are having fun then you’re doing something right. Tofino Surf School is one of the most affordable options too with 3-hour lessons starting from $85.

Surf Sister

Much like the name eludes, Surf Sister focuses on surf lessons for women and girls. Surfing is a male dominated sport and it can be intimidating for women to get out there. For this reason, I did a two-day Weekend Warrior Surf Sister camp – and I loved it! It was a great way to build up confidence. Surf Sister has a variety of different lessons and camps, many of which are co-ed and family friendly. 3 hour group lessons start from $99.
