Of all the trails in Whistler BC, these Blackcomb Mountain hikes might be the least known but in my opinion have the best views. Decker Loop and Overlord Trail have been two of my favourite hikes but now that the new Blackcomb Gondola is open, they’re even more readily accessible. If you’re looking for the best trails near Whistler, read on.
Overlord Trail Details
Length: 3.7 km (2.3 mi); 60-80 minutes
Elevation Change: 124 m (407 ft)
The Overlord Trail is a beautiful alpine walk that I love doing in the height of summer. I’d describe it as an easy to moderate hike through forests and meadows with an abundance of waterfalls and wildflowers. You’ll start out on the Alpine Loop from the Rendezvous Lodge at the top of Blackcomb Mountain and traverse across the 7th Heaven ski area toward the Garibaldi Provincial Park boundary. Here you’ll connect with Decker Loop.
Decker Loops
Length: 3.3 km (2.1 mi); 75 minutes
Elevation Change: 214 m (702 ft)
I highly recommend doing Decker Loop Trail in a clockwise direction. The views are worth the climb as you trek up the ridge to look out to some extraordinary views. Considered an advanced hike, Decker Loop perfectly complements Overlord Trail. Take in the views from the top then climb down through rocks and boulders then pass through a lovely meadow of alpine flowers before setting off towards a picturesque little lake called Decker Tarn. Here you’ll be able to take in views of Overlord Glacier, before connecting with Overlord Trail again and returning back to Blackcomb peak. This also makes the perfect place for an alpine picnic.
You will need to purchase a sightseeing pass Whistler Blackcomb in order to access the Overlord Trail and Decker Loop.

Remember to never hike alone, be prepared with extra clothes, snacks and water (and if you pack it in, you must pack it out) as mountains conditions can change quickly. Don’t forget to always be bear aware.
