The Sea to Sky Gondola needs to be on your list of things to do and see if you’re visiting Vancouver or Whistler. Located halfway between these two destinations, the gondola is located in Squamish, British Columbia, a destination known as the Adventure Capital of Canada. It has been closed for almost three years following two significant vandalisms but as of June 2021, the Sea to Sky Gondola is open! How much does the Sea to Sky Gondola cost?
Ticket prices are between $55.95 and $59.95 for adults and between $18.95 to $36.95 for children between the ages of 6-18. Kids 5 and under are free.
Is there parking?
Yes, there is free parking at the base of the gondola as well as an overflow parking lot on Highway 99 near Shannon Falls.
How long does Sea to Sky gondola take?
The Sea to Sky gondola ride is about 10 minutes from the bottom to the top.
How to get to the Sea to Sky Gondola from Vancouver?
Located on Highway 99 in Squamish, BC, the Sea to Sky Gondola is an easy 45-60 minute drive from Vancouver.
Can you hike up to the Sea to Sky Gondola?
Yes, there’s a steep hiking trail called the Sea to Summit Trail that takes you from the base to the top of the gondola. It’s rated as an intermediate hike and will take you about 3.5 hours. Please note, a BC Parks Day-Use Pass is required to hike the Sea to Summit Trail. You can get one here.
Are there lookout points from the top?
The Sea to Sky Gondola has three viewing platforms to take in the amazing sights: Summit Lodge Viewing Deck, Spirit Viewing Platform, and Chief Overlook Viewing Platform. There’s also a 100 metre suspension bridge at Sea to Sky Gondola that offers panoramic views. Plus the suspension bridge is stroller and wheelchair accessible.
Are there hiking trails from the gondola?
Yes, there are numerous hiking trails that range from kid-friendly beginner hikes to advanced hikes from the top of the Sea to Sky Gondola. A trail map is available at the top of the gondola, as well as helpful guest services members to answer any questions you might have.
Is there food at the gondola?
The Sea to Sky Gondola has three different restaurants depending on your needs. The Sky Pilot Restaurant has a casual but delicious menu of soup, salads, burgers, and more. It has a lot of options for vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free diets. It’s also licenced so you can enjoy a cocktail or glass or wine with your lunch while you take in the view from the top of the mountain. Co-Pilot Cafe is a grab-and-go option at the top with coffee, pastries, salads and sandwiches. Basecamp Cafe is located at the bottom and also has casual to-go options.
Is the gondola open in winter?
Yes, and it’s magical in the winter. There’s always lots of activities at the top of the gondola, like snowshoeing and visiting the tube park.
Can I get married there?
I have seen some really beautiful weddings at the Sea to Sky Gondola. The views are incredible and the photography is stunning. It’s also great for engagements!
Are dogs allowed on the Sea to Sky Gondola?
Dogs are allowed on the gondola for the download only. If they’ve hiked up with their humans, the doggy download price is $15.
Why is Sea to Sky Gondola closed?
The gondola was closed due to a number of vandalisms. As of June 11, 2021, it is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the last download at 6:00 p.m.
Is The Sea to Sky Gondola worth it?
The views are spectacular, the food is delicious, it’s accessible for all ages and abilities, there are numerous hiking trails, and there are play areas for young kids. Therefore I think the Sea to Sky Gondola is absolutely worth it!
